About the Organisation
OVAHS is a community-controlled Aboriginal health service dedicated to providing culturally safe, comprehensive primary healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the East Kimberley Region. Operating under the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) model of care, we place community engagement, cultural respect, and empowerment at the heart of our services.
Our health services encompass a wide range of primary healthcare, including general practice, chronic disease management, maternal and child health, mental health support, and more. We take a holistic approach to care, recognising the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and cultural wellbeing.
At OVAHS, we are committed to improving the health outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through community-led initiatives, preventative health strategies, and strong partnerships. We aim to create a welcoming and safe environment for all, where cultural competence and respect are embedded in every interaction.
As a remote-based organisation, we focus on providing healthcare services that are locally tailored and delivered in a way that aligns with the values and traditions of the community. We are proud to work alongside local leaders, elders, and families to ensure that healthcare is accessible, sustainable, and relevant to the needs of the people we serve.
Joining OVAHS means becoming part of a team that values cultural diversity, fosters innovation, and is deeply committed to making a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
