About the Opportunity

The Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) now has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and community-focused Health Programs Manager to join our dedicated team in Kununurra, WA on a full-time basis.

Are you committed to strengthening the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples? This is your chance to lead and support a dynamic, culturally safe service that delivers holistic health programs, community engagement, and empowerment across the East Kimberley region.

In this role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of a range of health and wellbeing programs. Working closely with program teams, clients, and community stakeholders, you will ensure services are responsive, culturally safe, and aligned with community needs. You’ll provide leadership and guidance to staff, support program development, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to drive positive health outcomes.

Your leadership will be grounded in respect, cultural safety, and community connection helping to create meaningful and long-term improvements in the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and community.

About You

You are an experienced and community-minded leader with a strong commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. With a background in health programs, community services, or Aboriginal health, you bring both strategic insight and hands-on experience in program management and delivery.

Your ability to build trust, lead teams, and engage respectfully with staff, community groups, and stakeholders sets you apart. You are confident in coordinating programs, managing resources, and supporting staff to deliver services that are both effective and culturally safe.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in health program management, Aboriginal health, or community services.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • A relevant qualification in health, management, community services, or public health (desirable).

  • Experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services or remote settings (highly regarded).

  • Specific benefits include:

    • Base Wage: $125,000 per annum pro rata + super (dependent on Qualifications and experience) per annum pro rata + Super
    • 5 weeks annual leave per year
    • Additional paid leave over the end of year closure period, as per leave policy
    • Annual flight allowance 
    • Accommodation allowance
    • IT allowance
    • Vehicle provided or Vehicle allowance
