OVAHS is a Community Controlled Aboriginal Health Service which operates out of Kununurra.

OVAHS provides a comprehensive primary health care service to Aboriginal people in the East Kimberley region. Preventative and public health programs include maternal and child health, women’s health, chronic disease, sexual health and along with the OVAHS Social Support Unit which offers AOD, Mental Health Services, health promotion and education programs in the areas of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders prevention, smoking cessation, chronic disease prevention, childhood health promotion and sexual health.

Staff include: GPs, Aboriginal Health Workers, Registered Nurses, Midwife, family workers, Mental Health workers, Audiologist, administration staff, manager, health promotion workers, maintenance workers and field officers.

Outstation clinic visits by clinical staff are conducted to Doon Doon and Glen Hill.  

OVAHS coordinate specialist clinics for visiting medical specialists, dentists and allied health to consult with clients at the OVAHS clinical rooms.

OVAHS along with BRAMS was a founding member of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Corporation (KAMSC) which was developed as a regional voice and a way of prudently sharing resources. The KAMSC Executive Directors Board is made up of OVAHS, BRAMS, the Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) and Yuri Yungi Health Service.
