OVAHS is a not-for-profit, multidisciplinary primary health care service delivering clinical, allied health and mental health throughout Kununurra and surrounding communities. We are looking for a likeminded individual to join our team of professionals, based at our office in Kununurra.

 

About the role

This role works under the supervision of the Senior Gardener/Maintenance Worker in gardening, building maintenance and improvements. The position works as part of the OVAHS team in providing a quality and patient focused health care.

Ensure the focus of care is on the needs of Aboriginal patients within the context of their cultural identity, family, and social circumstances.

 

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

Essential: 

  1. Possess skills in or is willing to learn all aspects of landscaping, gardening, and building maintenance.
  2. Works within recognised standards of high-quality service provision.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of the issues pertaining to the health of Aboriginal people in rural and remote areas.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
  5. Able to work in extreme temperatures.
  6. Good time keeping skills and punctuality.
  7. Able to follow directions in regard to duties and Occupational Health and Safety.
  8. Possesses basic computing skills or willingness to learn.
  9. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  10. Able to produce a current National Police Clearance (within the last 30 days)
  11. Able to produce a current driver’s license

Desirable:

  • Previous training in maintenance or gardening.
