OVAHS is a not-for-profit, multidisciplinary primary health care service delivering clinical, allied health and mental health throughout Kununurra and surrounding communities. We are looking for a likeminded individual to join our team of professionals, based at our office in Kununurra.

 

About the role

  • Provide Medical Reception services to OVAHS clinic.
  • To work as part of the OVAHS team in providing a quality and patient focused health care.
  • Ensure the focus of care is on the needs of Aboriginal patients within the context of their cultural identity, family, and social circumstances.

 

Please note: Due to the nature of the role, applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as a genuine occupational qualification in accordance with section 50 (d) of the Equal Opportunity Act (1984).

 

Essential: 

  1. Extensive experience as a receptionist, admin, or office worker.
  2. Practice within clinical standards and quality of care, which is effective, efficient and in accordance with best practice and agreed standards and policies.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of the issues pertaining to the health of Aboriginal people in rural and remote areas.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
  5. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills applicable to working with clients, colleagues, and external services.
  6. Experience and knowledge in providing high quality customer service.
  7. High level time management and organisational skills and the ability to carry out duties with minimal direction.
  8. Able to perform duties as part of a multi-disciplinary health team.
  9. Intermediate level of typing skills and formatting documents.
  10. Intermediate level skills in the use of computer software, data entry and managing spreadsheets.
  11. Ability to understand and master Medicare billing processes and checking.
  12. Possess skills which may be applied to coordinating client recall systems processes.
  13. Excellent work attendance and punctuality
  14. Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  15. Able to produce a current National Police Clearance (within the last 30 days)
  16. Able to produce a Working with Children’s Check
  17. Able to produce a current driver’s license

Desirable:

  1. Previous experience with Medicare billing.
  2. Tertiary certificates in business or administration studies.
